I recently purchased and installed a HP Deskjet D4360 which is working fine, but I'm getting pop-up messages on screen about new products, updates, etc. from HP. I thought I disabled this on setup, but obviously I didn't. I loaded all software and drivers so I'm sure I don't need any of these add-ons and I think it's mostly advertising anyway. How do I disable this feature?

P.S. I'm using Windows XP Pro if it matters.

Look in MSconfig for any HP entries...and copy them into a post, doesn't have to be the whole thing, just what the exe is.

HP has gotten much worse with that crap...one of the nice things about using HP printers in Linux, all that crap never sees the light of day, just the drivers load. I wish they would follow the same idea in Windows, it would be kind of refreshing.

Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to this. I don't use that machine very often. How do I get the msconfig information into a file? I don't see any option to copy or create a log. Thanks.

Just manually type in the names of the exes...or use HijackThis.

Even after telling HP install to NOT Load , install or any other nag ware
The few programs it does load will pester you about checking for updates

IF you loaded any of it's advanced features it will also bug you
Most often by hitting your firewall
A few have options areas and they can be set to check later.
Right click on any HP icons on the task bar and look for the settings

Even the TSR's will call home :(
