Hey all! Long time, no post, I know.

Lately I've been having an issue with my Microsoft Wireless Multimedia Keyboard. It seems to only affect me while I am playing games. I noticed it at first when I was playing a fps and the "w" key would stop responding while I was holding it down. This seems to occur intermittently. I remapped the movement controls and it seems like no matter which key I use as the "walk forward" key, the same thing occurs.

The odd thing is that none of the keys fail to do their job otherwise. If I hold down the "w" key right now, I get a repeated w like so:
wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

I can do this forever.

I have used a can of compress air to dust between the keys and I have replaced the keyboard batteries. Any idea of what could be going on here? Perhaps the keyboard is okay and it is another issue?

Is there a method for re-establishing good communication between the keyboard and the receiver that connects to the [PS2?] input sockets?

With my Belkin setup I must press/release the button on top of the receiver, then within 10 seconds press/release a button un the underside of the keyboard [or mouse].
Notification then comes up on screen that contact has been successfully established [only happens because/if keyboard & mouse programs are running in the background at all times].

I gave that a shot just now, but according to the wireless keyboard applet the battery is good and the signal strength is good. I'm wondering if it just may be time for a new keyboard!

Wireless keyboards/mice seem to be so much more 'delicate' than their wired counterparts.

Just to be sure, even though the battery indicator reads 'good' change them anyway...also, does the control applet give you a choice of channels to choose from? If so, try a different channel.

Also, I have had a fair measure of success disassembling keyboards...turn it upside down and support the corners, and thoroughly cleaning the insides...usually the membrane that the keys make contact with is where most of the problems develop, especially with 'sticky' or difficult to 'print' keys.

I use rechargeable batteries for my wireless keyboard and mouse [the mouse batteries run out much quicker than the keyboard batteries], and replace them temporarily with non-rechargeables whilst the rechargeables are being charged.

There have been times when my keyboard began acting up, that was quickly fixed by re-tuning.
Sometimes that happened when the batteries were OK [can't remember if I knew what was the cause; not hardware anyway].

In general I have little trouble with the wireless keyboard/mouse; they have been very reliable. :)
