I attempted to make a video with my Microsoft Lifecam VX3000 webcam/internal microphone with its corresponding program, and ended up with fine image quality, but absolutely horrid sound. I couldn't even hear what I was saying at all, it just sounded like a wash of background noise.

Any tips?

I would have a look at Sound Properties and mute everything but the main volume control. I suspect something is activated there that is overlapping the webcam's internal microphone. Hard to say what...

I've tried the following over the past minutes:

- I moved the webcam farther away from the computer, but the background noise remained the same.

- I moved it farther from the monitor. I do not have speakers -- it cannot be those.

- I unplugged the mic line of my headset altogether (instead of simply flipping the "off" switch on the cord).

- I tried checking and unchecking every box on volume control, with no difference whatsoever.

- I checked sound/audio devices, and everything was properly listed.

- I am using the only set of drivers available for it.
