Hello, I need some help for my computer, it just couldn't boot up, after start up,and scanning the Memory,it shows "CMOS Checksum Bad" and "Unlock Keyboard" these two error messages. And it also shows a message"Press F1 to Run SETUP" but i pressed any key on the keyboard, the whole system just freezed up, no response at all, I changed a new CMOS battery and a new keyboard, it still doesn't working, I am really loosing hair on it. Could anybody give me a hand on this, I don't have many hair left now.Thank you.

You'll need to take a look in the motherboard manual and see if you can find a jumper to clear the CMOS. It's usually somewhere near the CMOS chip, and you'll have to either remove it for about 30 seconds, if it's 2 pin, (add a jumper if it's open, then remove it) or if it's 3 pin, swap it to the other 2 pins for about 30 seconds then move it back. Then go into CMOS and reset the hard drives, floppy, and boot sequence if necessary. Not sure if that will fix it, could be a bad CMOS chip too...

Thanks very much for your help, But I don't know which chip is the CMOS chip, is it the one labeled "AMIBIOS", and what is the "jumper", what does it look like???

A checksum error requires you to reboot, enter setup, check your settings and reboot again.
Once you have removed and replaced the CMOS battery, and not necessarily with a different one, your CMOS will automatically clear. If it doesn't work the first time, (I see you have already done it once) try it again. Resetting settings or clearing CMOS are the only ways I know of to get rid of a checksum error. Hope this helps!

The chip labeled AMIBIOS would probably be the one. The jumper will be a pair of pins, or a set of three usually close to the BIOS chip. They are about 1/4" apart, 1/4" tall, sticking up from the motherboard.
Try to get a manual for the board.
Also, when you reply to a post please use the "Post a Reply" link below the posts, not the "Reply with Quote" at the top, unless you need to include a quote for some reason. It makes the thraed a bit shorter that way, and easier to keep up with. Thanks.
