I have a HP M7674N PC running Vista, and am using a HP Laserjet 5P printer.
This is a new PC with this printer.
The HP M7674N Vista machine doesn't have a parallel port, but the HP Laserjet 5P printer has a USB port so I am able to connect it using USB.
When I used this printer with my XP parallel port machine I could manual duplex print on it.
The problem is I do not have the option to use the Duplex print with the vista/USB cable.
Is there a way to get this option back using Vista and a USB cable?

Welcome to the PC Guide forums!
This is most likely the Vista print driver being used at fault, some Vista drivers may not be as full featured as the older drivers were for XP. Most printing companies seem to place their development resources into new model printers and may not spend as much effort into supporting legacy printers.
Did you use the driver in Windows or did you install the Vista driver from HP's support site?
The printing functions like duplexing do not change if parallel, USB, or TCP/IP.
My vote is for lack of drive support...the Laserjet 5 series is very old. While it is a full PostScript/total hardware printer and you will be able to get al east basic functions out of it in Vista, I doubt that there are going to be Vista drivers that utilize all its features...

Thank you both for a quick reply.
I have gone to HP.COM and they do not list a driver for Vista, however the printer set up to add this printer is on the Vista system.
I wonder if it is only a Vista issue or could it be a USB issue? Would adding a parallel card help?
