I just finish setting up a hard drive (about 1gb) with Win98 and another hard drive that's about 800mb with a ghost software. everything work fine until I plug in my old drives with Win95. The pc is 133mz and the drives was auto-detected properly when I ran the setup. The boot sequences stops after displaying the hard drive and cd info and displays message that reads: OS load in progress... and then displays a flashing _ and also the pc is making a continous beeping noise at the same time. hope you can save me again. I enjoy reading the Forum and picking up on all the tips.
thanks!
also is there a way delete your post? like my last one!

make sure all the connections are correct check jumpers on the (hdd)make sure the hdd you are trying to boot to is set to master and the other device set to slave CHECK all the obvious things..... that can be over looked first. fans, power connectors..etc....
"everything work fine until I plug in my old drives with Win95." you need to clarify this please im not sure what you mean here.....
"I just finish setting up a hard drive (about 1gb) with Win98 and another hard drive that's about 800mb with a ghost software" what type of system do you have? how much memory do you have?... you need at least 64mb of memory (sdram) for windows 98.
"OS load in progress... and then displays a flashing _ and also the pc is making a continous beeping noise at the same time".... tip continuous beep never a good sign. how old or how new is your computer? any error messages?
start here......see if some these things work http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

My pc is about 4 yrs old, 133mhz, 128mb ram. I running a 3gb hard drive on master and slave drive. (C: & D http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif. I've been running Win95. As I said I temporary put in a couple of 1gb drives to make a new image, Win98. everything was fine, all the new drive and old drives were working fine. I did set all the jumpers on the drives back to master or slaves as before. all the connections seems fine. on the last swap out and putting back the Win95 drives the pc would not boot up properly. has anyone run into this problem? I would appreciate your inputs. the mouse and keyboard also seems to be plug in properly. have a good day! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

ok you said "The boot sequences stops after displaying the hard drive and cd info and displays message that reads: OS load in progress... and then displays a flashing _ " i think is see the problem if it goes to load in proggress it mean that it has cleared post and is now trying to load the drivers for window 95 right? you are jumping back and forth bettween 95 and 98 which has different drivers... your mobo probably does have the right drivers loaded.....
try getting into safe mode by pressing f5 before it start to load... then go to my computer/control panel/system/device manager and look for any....( ! or x or ? )next to each device this lets you know if you have any conflicting devices make notes
also same as before before driver begin to load press f8 to get to start up menu then select step by step and press enter after each request see where there is a problem loading and where it stops. also try to isolate problem by selecting yes for one and no for the other do this for each one and make notes
also when it sayz loading windows does the windows logo screen come up at all then stalls or it stall before the logo screen?......... try these http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Count the beeps, or is it continuous non stop beeps?

I'm running Win98 with 32 MB RAM, works fine, and have seen it run (slowly) on 16MB and 20MB.
Are you putting a drive on this machine that has Windows installed from another machine?
See if you can get into the BIOS and look for a setting like "Set Configuration Defaults", or "Set Performance Defaults". Set this, then make sure to reset the hard drives, boot sequence, and floppy drives. See if it will boot. Sounds like mostly a BIOS issue.
The beeps may be a bad connection, either video card or memory. Both will produce a series of beeps, usually 8. Count them. If it's 8 beeps, reseat the memory and video cards. Reseat them anyway...the beeps tell me something is amiss, and lots of beeps usually mean something is not connected. Or the motherboard is dead...which I doubt...
