I'm running a P-200 MMX with 2.8GB hard drive and 32MB RAM, and have used browser and put together a webpage at the same time with no problems. Even did it with a download running once. Made the internet connection a bit slow, but the system handled everything else with no problems.

Can't tell you much about the motherboard, but if you want to be sure your system will handle multitasking well, upgrade to 64MB RAM. Otherwise, your system should handle it pretty well.

I would suggest more RAM. I have read that 64 Megs is the suggested minimum for internet.

Good choice on CPU! Yeah for K6-2 500mhz CPU's! hehe

Lynnguist I must disagree, I've used 486 systems with 16MB memory on the Internet with no problems at all. Did it with IE 4.0 for 2 years, on the above mentioned 486-66. Also have used a P-60 with 16MB, and others with less, including a 386 with only 4MB.

The most noticable difference is with internet connection speed, not Operating System or memory...Unless you're using a winmodem, which is an entirely different story, since it uses your CPU instead of a processor on the modem to do its work. Then you lose system resources, and of course, more memory is necessary. Which it promptly gobbles up...

That aside, as I already stated in my first post, more memory might be a good idea.

Viewing from your system, I recommend that you download an Internet connection boost form NAVISCOPE [freeware] and feel the difference....mine was very slow before but once I made the Installation, all the pages' display were gone smooth....
