Opinions wanted. Just built a new PC. Gigabyte 7ZX. AMD Atholon 800. 30Gig
HD. 125 p100 Ram.
Here's the problem. When loading win95, win98 or ME.
It gets to anything between 2% and 70% and everything just freezes. Nil activity.
Same thing everytime. So on average (if there is an average) what could be the main cause? Motherboard, CPU, Ram or HD.
If i can come to an more than likley possibility I will have something to go on when I take the parts back to the Vendor. Personally i think it's the motherboard??

Thanks to anyone who can help in this little matter..

Regards

Medx.

About all I can do is point you to a couple of links from the MS KNowledge Database concerning installation problems.

Setup Hangs During File Copy (http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q195/6/47.ASP)

Pre-File copy Setup Problems (http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q195/7/50.ASP)

Maybe these will help some.

Make absolutely sure that you have the CPU and motherboard set up to the correct settings. If you have set the motherboard inadvertently to an overclocked speed, you will encounter freeze ups during OS installation. Check the jumpers or BIOS settings if it is a soft set up.
