I have an Asus P2B motherboard, running a P400 with 128RAM. I find that the system is losing a significant amount of time when running. I can lose a minute or two an hour when running. When not running the clock seems fine.

Any clues?

Sometimes the Windows clock is not entirely dependable. I need to install my clock program and reset mine, come to think of it. Check around at Tucows (http://leasenet.tucows.com/), Download.Com (http://download.cnet.com/) or WinFiles (http://www.winfiles.com) and look for some clock utilities. Dimension 4 worked fine for me for about 2 years, but after Jan 1 it seemed to stop. They might have released a newer version by now, I'm not sure and haven't checked recently. Only Y2K problem I ever had...

These programs, several are available, work by logging onto the atomic clocks at any of several locations, like the US Naval Observatory in Washington DC, and retrieving the correct time, then they reset your machine's clock to that time. I have one called About Time on here now, and it seems to work fine, but I haven't reinstalled it since reworking my system a few months ago. Still have the zip file, just don't have it installed...too lazy I guess...Mine usually stays within 10-20 seconds every 6 months though.

This is also indicative of a mobo battery that is going bad...Jerry

bassvax, you're right, but since the original post said that when the computer is turned off the clock works fine, it led me to think it was a Windows clock problem, rather than BIOS clock, which would indicate a battery problem. Still could easily be the battery though.
