View Full Version : Do My Voltages Look Right?

PSU - Thermaltake Toughpower 750w

My PC has just today started freezing up all of a sudden for no reason (none I'm aware of anyway). I've had this PC for around 3 years with no problems, and haven't done/installed anything major recently either.

I was thinking it might be something to do with my Power Supply. If you guys could check my voltages and let me know if anything seems wrong, I'd greatly appreciate it. I noticed the +12v seemed to be rather low, but I'm not sure if Everest is displaying it properly anyway, as I was told by somebody that if my voltage was really that low, my PC wouldn't even be running.

Here's the screenshot anyway - http://i43.tinypic.com/4v30xh.jpg

Many thanks in advance.

If that is properly displayed, then you do have big trouble...but a 12V reading that low and things like drives would not work at all.

I am not familiar with self diagnostics that would read back power supply voltages but if you have a voltmeter you could verify your diagnostics. The voltage between yellow and black should be +12V, voltage between red and black s/b +5V. This will be true on all connectors whether loaded or not. It is also possible that one particular device is shorting the +12V line so I would remove all connectors except to the motherboard and turn on the computer and see if you have +12V.

Agree that it is a false reading and the system would not boot with +12v that low. Also agree you should manually check it with a multimeter. Might as well check the wall outlet while you are at it. (only if you know how to do it, don't let the smoke out)

Your GPU temp is running high. Particularly if that is an idle temp. In fact all your temps are high. This is likely your problem. How long has it been since you cleaned out the system real good?

those heat ranges are too high.......and just frezzing up sounds like a heat problem also............
