When I try to shut down my computer is goes through the shut down routine and after it say window is shutting down the hard drive clicks off and then it restarts. It won't shut down without me holding in the power switch after windows says shutting down. Anyone have any suggestions?

My first question is, what is the brand name of that computer.
Second question, have you run windows updates lately to make sure you have all the updates for your computer, and also if your computer manufacturer has an updates page of their own.

I have corrected the issue. It was a software issue I was having with a PAL dialer. I uninstalled and everything is ok now. Thanks for your help. Originally posted by bz:
