SOS call!

1. My system did not boot one fine morning. Last shut down was normal. But during the same sitting I deleted the window explorer files (While removing dragon software). I had to again reload window 98. There were problems in startup. But i could load it.

I have a tomato motherboard (TX 98 3D)with socket 7 (intel processor 199 Hz). When i switch on there is light in the CD, HDD leds. The HDD spins. There are no beeps. The monitor led color also does not change.

2. The following parts are fine (I have checked using the other computer):
- Monitor
- Video card
- Sound card
- Modom
- HDD
- 64 mb RAM
- Power supply

3. I have tried removing all the cards but still no beep on booting.

COULD IT BE A BAD MOTHERBOARD/CPU ? THERE ARE NO BEEPS.

PLEASE SUGGEST SOME REMEDY.

If you have checked all the parts listed and they work, the only things left are motherboard and CPU, unless you have a bad connection somewhere. Pull and reseat the video card and memory a fe times to clean the contacts, and check any chips on the board for "socket creep". Push them back into place, being careful not to bend the board too much.

If you still get no beeps, I'd think either CPU, motherboard or CMOS chip is bad, only way to find out is to change them. CMOS chip should give 9 beeps if it's bad...

If you had everything...Where would you put it?
