It's welshboy here...the man with the HD purchasing dilemma from a few weeks ago...

Well the drive is in and was working perfectly until 7days ago..

Once again a brief history..

Looked for and found HD to purchase..Seagate U10 series. Unfortunately when I tried to buy one I was told they were no longer available.

Had another look around and found a 15.3Gb Fujitsu drive from my local retailer.

Installed new drive, used driver software to install a Dynamic Drive Overlay to overcome my bios probs.
Also used driver software to make a complete copy of my old drive on the boot partition of the new one.

Everything working fine (a little faster actually!)

Jump forward to this week and for some reason every time i start the machine it asks to run scandisk 'cos windows did not shut down properly..?
My Computer DOES shut down o.k (even powers down when complete!)

2 Days ago it happened.....The Registry DIED... http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/eek.gif

Don't ask me how it happened
All I know is that win95 will not start, what happens is when I get my wallpaper up, it tells me there is a problem with the registry which cannot be loaded and asks to restore an old version of the registry.

I do as it asks but the same thing happens all over again...

At the moment I am running the computer off the old drive which had left completely disconnected in its bay(just in case something bad happened), It's a good job I did as I was seriously considering using the drive as an additional storage area....

The question is simple... Can I restore windows without having to reinstall it??

If you want to know what we talked about originally, here is where you can find our discussion. http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/Forum9/HTML/000059.html

As a cute young lady once said (almost)
