Alright I own an HP Pavilion dv7-1245dx laptop and got it in 2009. Last few weeks I noticed the battery icon says that my charger is "Plugged in but not charging" also stating that I should get a new battery so I went and bought a brand new battery. Then I go and update the BIOS and ran some other things and that managed to fix the problem temporarily and now I'm back with the "Plugged in but not charging" issue. When my PC is shut down it charges no problem. But what's going on? I also noticed that my old battery had corrosion and when I removed the new battery I saw a little bit of white corrosion. So is there something wrong with my motherboard? Or do you think it is the charger itself causing all of these problems? What is wrong here? Please help!

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit.

To clarify--the new battery didn't fix the problem?

Sounds like the charge controller is going south. When did this issue crop up?

It is common for some brands to have a problem with the connector where the adapter is inserted to charge the battery.
Sometimes they can be re-soldered, but on some models the connector is on a small board and then the board gets replaced to repair the connector.
