one thing to note is that ...this all happened after some graphics chipset repair..caused by short circuit during replacing of screen of the laptop.

So the laptop was opened?

Has the pad ever worked since it was opened?

Who did the internal repairs?

It's looking like, to me at least, that whoever was inside the laptop forgot to connect some wires...like the mousepad and the speakers.

SERVICE STATION..
the laptop had a broken screen and while replacing it, a short circuit had occurred in the hard disk and motherboard, and finally both were repaired.

the mouse pad , touch pad, volume didnt work from that day ,,I had presumed that drivers would need to be installed but still this didnt help..

Take it back to them...they forgot to reconnect some things.

And if they want to charge for this, inform them that it was their fault to begin with and that you will not pay to 'fix' something that should have been checked before the machine left the shop, the first time.
