Anticipating new Win 98 system, copied multiple folders containing .doc, .rtf and .xls to CD-r using HP external burner. Immediate random check able to read all files.

Put onto new system and one cd was ok. However second is not. One folder containing .doc files copied about 25% to hard drive and about a random 50% of that is readable. For all other .doc files, I am getting errors of either 1) word cannot import specified file or 2) Doc name or path is invalid.
.rtf files giving error- check file permissions or use dialogue box and .xls - file cannot be accessed.

Help. How can one folder half copy? and allow random reads. (same on cd as hard drive)

Need data badly

Regards
Gordon

hmmmm...have you tried slowing the speed down? Usually a higher speed of recording gives you a higher failure rate...also dont ever use the feature "copy on the fly" because this feature tries to copy directly CD to CD so it is extremely unreliable...
