My computer is giving the following message. Please give me the solution.

Window encountered an error accessing the system registry. Youn should the registry now and restart your comuter.

If you ignore this error and shut down your system , you may lose data.

Restoring the registry will replace the fautly registry with a known good backup copy. However, this backup copy may not contain all of the information recently added to your system.

Restore from Backup & Restart.

I tried to restore the backup even then same problem exist.

NO! Do not format the machine yet!

The registry can be sucessfully replaced by two methods.
1. Run scanreg, in windows 98
2. Renaming system.dat and user.dat in windows 95.

I understand scanreg can be used with win95, but you have to be able to get a copy of it.

Let us know what version of windows you have and we'll help you get the registry fixed.

nasic Please don't recommend formatting and reinstalling unless it is an absolute last resort. The majority of problems we see here can be fixed without resorting to that extreme. Restoring the registry is fairly easy, especially with win98...
