Couple days ago, i posted a subject about my computer and i'm being told that i need more memory. Now my computer is a P3 733MHZ And i just put in a 256SDRAM memory in it. So it suppose to be supper fast now right? But whenever i connect to the internet, for some reason the internet is run-pause-run on me. Anybody have better idea??? Hi htn78!
I dont quite get what u mean by run-pause-run for the internet? Do u mean the connection will disconnect automatically, or the connection is slow?

Refer to your other post...did you check in Device Manager to see if you have a Winmodem or HCF modem? That would be my first guess, what you describe is classic winmodem symptoms, and we need to know if this is a winmodem. Check and see, that would tell us a LOT.
Otherwise, the condition of your phone line can affect Internet performance as well. Unplug all phones and answering machines including the phone plugged into the modem, if you have one, and see if it works any better. Contrary to the way modems are supposed to work, having other devices plugged into the line can and will cause Internet performance to suffer.
Maximize your Internet Connection (http://sysopt.earthweb.com/maxmtu.html) might also help.

I would also look at your DNS server entries. If your using a program supplied by your ISP then DNS won't be a problem. But if your "hand coding" your connection to your ISP, check those IP address. pointing to the wrong DNS server can cause your"internet" apps to behave like they have loss their connection.
Hope this helps!!

Just thought of this, also make sure you have the right logon type. Some ISP's like Windows Logon, some like Microsoft Family Logon. A call to your ISP's tech support might help as well.
