I'm new to this forum and have a quick question that I could not answer by searching online. I have a question about my laptop taking my desktop off of sleep mode. When I open up my laptop and begin using it, my desktop always comes out of sleep mode. Is there a setting that I can change to prevent this from happening?

How do you connect the laptop to the Internet? Is it done through a router, or do you use a shared connection from the desktop? Do you have any folders shared on the desktop, which you can access from the laptop?

Shared folders and 'Wake on LAN' set to on on the desktop would definitely do it...

The laptop is connected to the internet from a router and the desktop and laptop have no shared folders. I think I fixed it by unchecking allow this device to wake the computer under network adapter. Is there a reason that I would want it to stay checked?
