I'm currently getting a file \Ntkrnlmp.exe could not be loaded error code is 7 while trying to install windows xp pro. I've gone through test the memory and running the manuf. hdd diagnostic. Everything passed.

I test the windows xp pro on my desktop..and the error did not come up at all but it comes up on the dell laptop. So it can't be windows xp cd that's causing the error. It must be hardware related. Can't put my finger on what the problem is. Oh yeah..before it had an error saying no boot sector on internal hard drive. So I created a partition via dos and made it an active partition and formatted the c:, no boot sector on internal hard drive error disappears. Any suggestions?

This Microsoft article (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318729) points to either incorrect BIOS settings or faulty RAM.

Since you've tested the memory, perhaps you could check the BIOS settings and, if necessary, restore to default settings.

Likely issue is either the SATA controller needs to be set to IDE mode in the BIOS, or you need to load the SATA drivers from a floppy drive by hitting the F6 key at the appropriate time during installation startup. Another way is to slipstream the drivers onto a custom install disk.
