Hi
I have a completly new system built by myself. But I havent yet got it up and running.
Configuration: ASUS A7V, 128 MB ram, Old cd-rom, DiamondMax VL30 UDMA100 30,7 GB and one of those special 80 conductor cable.
When booting it only founds my cd-rom on the secondary slave position.
If I continue the UDMA100 driver starts and scans for discs, and finds my harddrive.
But on the sum up of hardware that shows last during the POST, there are still just a cdrom.
Please help me!

Can you access the drive with FDISK? Is it working?

It is not listed in the Bios sum up of hardware. Haven´t tried with fdisk but Linux Mandrake installation cant find it. So I guess thats an answer to you question. To make things clerar I can add that the disc works fine if i connect it to the regular IDE-connector and skip the UDMA100 speed...

You sure the drive is capable of Ultra DMA mode 5 (100 MB/s)? If it isn't it would probably behave as you describe.
Run the Maxtor util and check it?

I am completlyt sure that it supports UDMA100. The driver for the UDMA100/66 detects my disc, and it looks just fine, but anyhow bios dont understand it has found it.
The exact model of the device is DiamondMax VL30 33073U4.
