i have a 12x iomega burner and a 50x acer cd-rom and everytime i want to record cd to cd it gives me this message saying that my source cd isnt fast enough to keep up with the burner i always have to copy the cd to the hard drive first unless i record at a 4x, does this mean that i have to get a faster cd-rom.

It's not the spin speed that's the problem, it's the data transfer rate, which is a different animal. That's the reason installing Windows from a directory on the hard drive is faster than installing from CD ROM.
Don't think you'll find one that will keep up if a 50X won't do it. Keep copying to the hard drive...

Could be that a better quality source drive will work better too. Or maybe one of those multi-beam Kenwood jobs? Acers are "OK" but not the best drives around.
