PLS HELP !
I flashed the wrong program(which is not bios program)
to my bios and now my COM can't boot , the monitor screen
is blank , nuthin at all . Can I try clearing the CMOS ?
There's no clear CMOS jumper on my mobo , wat should I
do ? or is there any other way to remedy ? Pls help me !
Thanx
The only way I know to correct this is.
Replace the Bios chip.
With luck you don't have a soldered in chip.
Contact someone in the area that sells that mother board and find a new chip.
If it won't boot you can't flash it again.
Or find someone who has the hardware to flash a chip.
If you can even remove the chip.

Only other alternative is to go shopping for a new motherboard. Once you reboot after a bad flash, it's all over but the crying...

anyway , thanz for ur time guys http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
If you have an Award BIOS this may work:
From Epox support: "If you have access to an old un-accelerated ISA video card, you might be able to recover your BIOS. Remove all cards and drives from your system, except for the ISA video card and the floppy drive. Then try to boot from a system disk (a bootable floppy with only the flash program and corresponding BIOS image). If you are able to boot to the floppy, flash your BIOS according to the directions."

Well done Reid...now how did you manage to dig that up???
I should have posted this before as well, just didn't think of it, too many links to remember...Bad Flash (http://www.badflash.com/) can also solve your problems for about $20.

hey pete , thats a good link,
but since my mobo is still
under warranty , i feel
its better to send it back
to the manufacturer for servicing.
well , i might consider if the
warranty period is over ,
but its kinda far ..hehe
thanx anyway http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Pete,
Well, the "secret" is the Google (http://www.google.com) search engine. I just used a search string of "bad BIOS flash recover" (without quotes). The best hits are usually right on the first page of listings when using Google.
I used to use Altavista (http://www.altavista.com) extensively, but it often comes back with too many hits. It is still good when "digging deep".
Another I like is Copernic (http://www.copernic.com). They have a program that searches through 15 other search engines and compiles the results.

Thanks Reid, I might have to give Google a try. Been using Infoseek for ages, but they apparently "fused" recently with go.com, and I don't like the way it works now, so I've been using Dogpile (http://www.dogpile.com) a lot. It seems to work fairly well, and searches several engines at once also. Still have to try different keyword combinations though...
Right now I have my auto-search set for Alta Vista, since Dogpile isn't on the options list. I'll check out the others though, and see how I like them.
What I really want is something that will come up with reliable hits on the MS Knowledge Database...yeah, I know...tall order...fat chance...in your dreams...
