I have a Hard Drive problem that when i use Fdisk to partition the drive, either if i choose large disk support or no large disk support, my system freezes and its a black screen with just that blinking underscore where the Y or N was for choosing the disk support i wanted. There are also NO current logical drives at all on this drive. This drive is only 3 months old. Its a 10GB Seagate.
Its the only hard drive i have in the system, BIOS detects it during POST, and this piticular Hard drive does the exact same thing in another computer (using a different 40-pin ribbon cable and different IDE channels). The jumpers are set right.
My guess is that the MBR or the partion table is screwed up. My questions are: How can i erase partion table and start with a fresh clean partion table? And how do i delete the MBR so i can start a fresh one?
Maybe those things might fix the problem. Any other suggestions, besides deleting the partion table and MBR?
