while booting of my PIII/500Mhz Win 98 OS system
I used to get CMOS check sum error Defaults loaded
Please press Setup to change clock ratio

I changed the CMOS battery and in BIOS it is showing clock speed correctly as 500MHz and now I am not getting any errors while bootup but the system date and time not getting updated.

For ex: on 15/12/00 i set the system date and time correctly as 15/12/00 and 7:40 p.m and work for 15minutes, time will increment to 7:45 p.m.Then if I switched OFF the system.

On 16/12/00 if i switch ON the system and see the system date and time it will be 15/12/00 and 7:45 p.m and from that time will increment.

1.Why the system date and time is not updating even with new CMOS battery?

And my clock speed problem got solved and is showing correctly and only thing I faced is system date and time problem .

2.If any problem with time why it is not showing errors while bootup? Is this a serious problem ?

3.Do you think any problem with my motherboard? If I use the system with this condition will I face any problems with my motherboard in future?

4.If I load trial versions like shareware software, will it work even after the time is over in my PC because of this date and time problem?
