What is a storage array? How does it differ from othe storage options?

The best thing I can do is point you to the PC Guide's setion on Hard Drives (http://www.pcguide.com/ref/hdd/index.htm) which has info about all the different hard drive options, including a section on Redundant Arrays of Inexpensive Disks (http://www.pcguide.com/ref/hdd/perf/raid/index.htm).
