Are you using the Windows start disk in "A"?

You need a "System disk" with format.com also on it to format the drive...assuming you already have the drive partitioned (that's what you use fdisk for). Since I dont know what you know about computers, to make a system disk you go to my computer/Format and use the system files only option......then copy format.com onto the floppy as well...that outta work to format the drive..

This article on Creating a Boot Disk (http://www.pcguide.com/proc/sw/boot.htm) may help also.
In Win95 or 98 you can go to Start\Settings\Control Panel and open Add/Remove Programs. Click the Start Up Disk tab put in a clean floppy and click the Create Disk button. That will make a start up disk that should have all the necessary utilities on it.
