hi, I have a weird problem with my DVD ROM (Samsung). This drive works fine with games and CDs but when it come to play movies the sound gets full of noises. These noises sound like electrical sparks in the background (i thought was the washing machine in the adjacent room but I never hear them while gaming or listening music). Assuming was a software problem I did try a different movie-player software but no improvement. I also changed my speakers but nothing. In addition to the sound problem I also got a few times the message "fatal error in module...yada yada yada" and of course the system freezes (no conflicts are reported in the "System" menu!). Do you know what it could be? do u think i more a software or drive problem? I did try to remove and reinstall the software but nothing changed.
thanks for your help.

I've never heard of module yada yada yada, so give us the rest of the error message. Fatal exception errors are often related to memory problems, you might try different known good memory and see if it clears that up.
For the crackly sound, check for cords too close to the system, and try dropping the sound quality back a notch in the movie players' properties.

I think it is a problem with your DVD player in the DVD mode personally. if it operates fine in a regular CD mode and only gives problems when in DVD mode.....it's likely a hardware issue......I'd take the sucker back myself.
