This is a pretty screwed up problem that originally came in several parts, some of which I solved, but I think that some of the things I did to fix certain problems may have resulted in the problems I'm experiencing now.
I'll try to summarize.
I was screwing aroung with Multiple OS's and partitions which resulted in my C: drive becoming invisible, which in turn kept me from booting. It gave an invalid media type error, but the files were still there. I eventually fixed the problem by disabling the drive in the BIOS so I could install WIN 98 on my second harddrive. By using several tools (Boot disks, BootStar, FDISK, SYS) I was able to restore my C: drive to functionality. However, something I did caused a problem on my second harddisk. My second drive is divided into two partitions, D and E. I can boot into WIN 98 from my C drive, and I am able to access the files on partition D, but when I click on the E drive I get the exact same files that are on D, and not the ones that I know are there. In device manager there are no device conflicts, but the performance tab gives the error "Drive D is using an MS-DOS compatibility mode file system." There is no "NoIDE" value to delete in my registry. FDISK doesn't recognize the fact that I have two partitions on my second drive, but I'm sure the files are still there, I just can't access them. Both of my drives are MAXTOR Diamond Max Drives. I've attempted deleting the drivers and getting windows to reinstall them as well as turning off the Drive in the BIOS and then restoring it.
Nothing I've done works. Please help.
