I have to press the on/off{power} switch several times in order to begin the boot process.During the boot process I get a notice "checksum error - dafaults loaded" plus a setup menu which I chose "normal". I then have to press F1 to continue. This set of cicumstances is new in the past few days. The clock works properly. I have a Comp USA Home Series desktop PC. Any ideas? Thanks.

How old is your system? What operating system (Win95 or 98) are you using? Usually, a checksum error deals with RAM;however, it can be Bios, video, sound or even programs related.....more info about your computer's age will help. Sometimes, a new battery (even if time is ok) solves the problem. As far as having to push the power button several times to get computer to boot would indicate the ON/OFF switch is worn out and needs replacement.
