I recently installed a 50x CD-rom drive on my computer. When the device starts spinning the CD's it makes a sound like a small jet engine revving up or a window fan on a hot day in July. The sound is loud enough to interfere with listening to a music cd. Does anyone know of a fix for this. This is the 2nd CD-rom drive I've had this problem with.
Thank you.

Yeah, get a less than 40x drive....the faster you get the louder they are. And some are louder than others, check out here (http://www.storagereview.com/) for some info on various brands of Cd drives.
