I have a P3-500mhz running Win2000pro(NTFS). My Cdrive is a
13.6 gig maxtor. When this drive started to growl on startup,
Two months ago, I installed a 10gig maxtor in my Edrive position
and did a full backup of Cdrive which had only 6gig of data on
it. I removed Edrive and stored it away. Yesterday the computer
refused to boot saying that "cannot read files or drive".

Question; when I do an emergency boot from Adrive, how do I tell
it to restore the operating system and files from
Edrive and make the Edrive harddrive the new Cdrive.

Sorry to not be answering your question, but our experts can, and will be along later. I just have to say that your name stuck me..my grandfather's name was John Mathieson. His father came from Scotland. Interesting, no?

Hello John and Welcome,
If you have done a full backup to include OS and all apps, you should just need to install this HDD in place of the old one. You may need to use Fdisk to make that partition "Active" and boot it up.
Post back if you need some help with that and good luck http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/cool.gif

If I tell you to think for yourself, then you're not doing it.

If the hard drive came in retail package, it will have an installation disk. If not, download from the mft web site.

Install both drives, set up the new drive and copy the information over, the software will take you through it.

It's really that easy, I have done this many many many times...

Good luck
