Hello all,

System specs:
Yardsale Ibuiltit,
Pent.233
64Mgb EDO
2.4G HDD
Win 98.

All was working fine when I got it. Decided to add a used 2.1G HDD and modem, then go for a fresh install of 98SE(it will remain my machine.)
Set BIOS to autodetect Primary/Slave, set jumper on second HDD to slave. BIOS recognizes all HDD info correctly(Cylinders, heads, sectors, total space).
Fdisk only recognizes 504 Mb on this drive but correct size of Primare/Master.
I have tried to delete NON-DOS but says there is no NON-DOS to delete. No Extended, no Logical, only the original Primary of 504. I have deleted this and tried to repartition several times. When promted to use all available space, I say yes and only get 504. I have even said NO and tried to define the 2111Mb that should be available and it says "NOPE!"
The Fdisk I am useing is on a 98 bootdisk which is good.
Any ideas??? Thanks in advance

Just humor me and pull the drive, set it to master and run it by itself...see if it will read full capacity then. You can also try delpart...catch me on the chatroom I can't find the link for it so I'll get it to then...

If it does read the full try the other drive as slave and see what happens...also go grab the info from the manufacturers websites and triple check those jumper settings.

I am glad you went into bios and got it fixed. If I was a Master I would give you a party dance. Good job of trouble shooting.

One day I will be a pro, Thanks Andy

Thanks MJC and Andy.
A lesson to pass on. While setting this drive up in BIOS, the Autodetect did not pick up the drive correctly. I set the perameters manualy and had set the mode to "Normal." While monkeying around with switching possitions of the drives, I had reset the perameters on the first drive and set it to "Normal" also. When I realized I knocked it down to 504 also, I found my problem. Set them both to "Large" and got them up to 1008(?), set them both to "LBA" and got their full capacities back. All is well and working perfect http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/cool.gif

Sometimes all it takes is a little coaxing to get you going the right way.
