Help! I'm not that knowledgeable about computers, so if anyone could anwser my question, I would be very happy! My problem is that when I put a disc in, the cd-rom dosen't recognize that there's a disc in there. A little window pops up and says to make sure there is a disc in, and then try again. The little activity light only goes on for a few seconds , right after I slide the tray in. This happened while I was playing on the internet on a game that requires a disc to run, if that has any importance. I have never had any problems with my cd-rom before.

Sorry! I also wanted to add that my cd-rom thing was working fine up until the point where I logged off my game on the internet. I took out my game CD to put in another one, and that's when I discovered it wouldn't recognize my CD's! There was about 1 min. between the point where I discovered the thing wouldn't work and when I was lost in internet game nirvana.

Hello Molly,

Welcome to PC Guide Forum!

My initial concern would be to make sure you are running some sort of Anti Virus protection?

We could try a simple fix first: Reboot into SAFEMODE. Right click MY COMPUTER on desktop, left click PROPERTIES. Click on DEVICE MANAGER and find the CD-ROM. Click on the (+) and highlight the drive...on the bottom click REMOVE. Reboot and let Windows find and reinstall the drivers...let's see if that helps first.
