ditto

I have a A7V mobo, 1Gig processor and geforce 2 ultra graphics card and my system wont boot up either, but it use to, except it would not run any games and the system would hang/freeze and need rebooting alot.

I am one slightly angry person now and my hand is beginning to hurt from punching the wall in anger at it.

Apparently to reset bios you have to short the 2 solder points near the cmos thingy (very technical phrases used here!) its in the mobo manual on page 59

Problems I think it could be is the processor has popped or the mobo is screwed

First thing to check in both cases is for properly seated cards. Reseat the video card and memory, pull everything but CPU, RAM and vodeo card and try it.

Next is check for a ground problem. Best way to do that is power it up on a table, out of the case, with only motherboard, CPU, RAM and video card. If you get video and it tries to boot, put it back in the case. If you get no video then, it's a ground problem. Get some cardboard washers from a computer shop and put them under the motherboard, between board and chassis.

Next, could be power supply failure, bad CMOS chip, or possible bad motherboard, bad video card, or memory.

Check the power connections too, and the wires to the switches.

Stay tuned, other folks may have more suggestions.

Well gentlemen welcom to the club, I also have the A7V & 1ghz. The first thing to check is the PSU output, 300w is suggested. This was the cause of my partial boot problems. next the problem of freezing could be caused by your ram, generic is a big ? I had one 64mb chip that would lockup my machine EVERY time I started gaming, I just removed it (not replaced yet) no more lockups. Check with the maker for specs on ram, must be built on a 6 LAYER board not 2 layer. if unknown assume it to be 2 layer. if in doubt take it out, 128mb for appox. $60 not to much to replace.

This is mentioned in the PC Guide, but it bears repeating: PCs have "switching" power supplies. Unlike the older technology "linear" power supplies, switching power supplies require a load, or you won't see any output voltage when using a voltmeter!
