I'm pretty computer-literate, but I've never seen anything like this. It started about a week ago. I didn't make any significant changes to my system, nor did I install any software. But, whenever I went to play any sort of game (anything that used up CPU power) it would become incredibly choppy in 20-second bursts, then play fine for a minute. Continuously.
I used system monitor to have a look at what my CPU's doing. I let it go for a few minutes (no programs running, most systray ones shut down, basically as much free resources as possible). 0% use for 1 minute, then it jumps up to 100% for 20 seconds, then back to 0%. Anyone have any idea what might be causing this?
