Unless I keep my hardware acceleration on the second to the lowest setting, which makes most of my games run jerky, I get pixel residue wherever the mouse cursor moves in my son's "Sims" game. This just started happening recently, it has been working great in the fastest acceleration setting for a year now.
The only thing I've done recently is install a SCSI card and CD writer, which work good. I've checked for conflicts which there are none, and "show mouse trails" is not checked in the settings. My mouse is using IRQ 12 all by itself. I'd appreciate any advice that lets me run at fastest acceration without pixel garbage. Thanks

Hi there, and welcome to the forums.
It seems strange that this would happen with only one program, and seemingly out of the blue. Games can be very finicky at times though.
One thing comes immediately to mind: have you checked recently for updated video drivers? Also, could you have loosened or jostled the video card when you were inside the box?
Check the card and cable to ensure they are fine, and see if there's a new driver... let us know how it goes.

You might try the obvious and yank the new SCSI card and CD ROM and see if it still does it. It might be coincidental that it started happening around the same time. If it goes away then clearly something in the SCSI card setting is conflicting/interfering with the mouse. You might also try a better/different mouse. I had a cheap track ball mouse once that was erratic when the CD ROM was spinning and was frustrating - no conflicts. Upgraded to a brand name mouse and the problem went away.
