video and sound card help

After reformatting my hard drive win98SE will only recognize standard
vga card and won't find my sound card at all. I have gone to the
matrox web site and tried to manually put in the driver but all
that did was mess up my monitor. I have also tried to manually put
in the ensoniq sound card driver but it doesn't work. Please help
I only have 16 colors and no sound.

Need more details to have a prayer of helping. Hardware details for starters. Also, have you looked in the Device Manager to see if there are any device conflicts?

Do you have the installation disks for either piece of hardware? If not, try to find installation programs on the internet for them. Individual drivers dont always work...a lot of hardware devices need lots of different files installed. Windows doesn't have drivers for your devices?
