I just got this sound card it is PNP and my windows 98 does not see
it in my PCI slot. It came with its own install software but everytime
I try to run it freezes in the same spot. When I try to run the install
for DOS it gives me a message can not find sound card.

When windows tries to identify the card it also does not see the card.

any help I can get would be appreciated.

That's wy they call it Plug & Pray...

Do you have it plugged into a shared slot? Or worse yet, plugged into a shared slot with an ISA card plugged in beside it? The shared slot will be the last PCI slot, right beside the ISA slots. The last of each is often shared. That means you can only use the ISA or the PCI. And sometimes PCI has trouble with it. Try moving it to a different slot if possible.

Also set PCI Configuration in BIOS to Auto. Usually works best that way.

The Creative Labs website troubleshooting and FAQ links might be worth a look too.
