I have a creative labs ensoniq 1370 sound card, I was just wondering
if there was a test to find out if my sound card is no good or if it
is something else. And by the way does anyone know what a creative
Ensoniq Audio PCI Legacy Device is??? Thank you so much for the help
on my video card, I now get 32 bit instead of 16 colors!!!!!!

Legacy means it's not plug and play.
Check Device Manager and if the card has any IRQ or other conflicts, they will show up there. If you have no conflicts showing up, try and download and install new drivers. Check the connections by pulling the card out of the slot and plugging it back in a few times, and maybe cleaning the gold contacts with a red rubber pencil eraser. Make sure the speakers are plugged into the right jack on the card. Try headphones too, to be sure it isn't the speakers. Double click the speaker icon in the task bar and make sure all the volume controls are turned up and that it's set to use the correct card, or any available devices, I think is the usual setting.
Boot into Safe Mode and remove all sound cards from Device Manager and reboot, let Windows find and install the card again.
If after all this you have no sound, I would suspect the card is bad.
The only way I know of to prove it's bad for sure, is to install another card, and install the problem card in another machine, and see what happens. If the replacement card works, and the existing one doesn't work in another computer, it's most likely a bad card. Kind of an expensive way to troubleshoot...
