http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif I use my webcam for videoconferencing with my son in USA. I see and hear him perfectly. He can see me, but my conversation has an echo which we both hear. How can I get rid of this. My sound is configured to full duplex.

That is caused by your mic picking up what's coming out of the speakers. You hear it as an echo because it sends it back through the net and back to you. You can try a pair of headphones, that's the only way I know of to fix it. Changing the full duplex setting would mean you would have to wait till no sound is coming in before you could talk...that would be a nuisance. Headphones should be plugged in to the same jack as the speaker cord. With headphones, there's no sound coming back out of the speakers for them to pick up and create an echo. I have to switch to headphones to use dialpad for long distance phone calls. Same reason, and can't get rid of the echo any other way I've tried.
One other thing I just thought of, open your volume controls and turn the mic all the way down in playback controls. This will stop your mic from coming through the speakers when you talk, but still will let it send it over the net, the volume control for that is in recording controls.

Thanks, Paleo Pete, for your reply. I will try everything you suggest, as the problem is really annoying. One thing, I do not use a separate mic as I have an inbuilt mic in my webcam (Phillips PCa645VC). Would this be linked to the problem?

Don't think so, the mic will react the same to the sound coming out of the speakers no matter which type it is.
