intel has got an information page on the chipset of your motherboard (82815) http://support.intel.com/support/graphics/intel815/i815feat.htm
this pages lists that your PC is compatible with A PIII and that is AGP 3D graphics. since is part of the motherboard i would imagine that the VGA controller would take 8MB of memory from your RAM specifically for graphics.
Something that you can do, is click on start, then settings then control panel and then double-click on system. There, it will be dysplayed (in the General page) what processor have you got, how much memory, and what operating system you have. to come out of system, click on cancel, not the ok button.
Also, to make sure of how much memory do you have on your Graphics Adapter, is: right-click on the background in your main desktop, then click on properties, once there, click on the tab named Settings, then click on the button named Advanced. Once there if you click on the Tab named Adapter, it will display a list of features about your VGA including memory (wether its ussing 8MB) what drivers it uses and the manufacturer.
Be sure that once you have finished checking the properties in control panel and Dysplay properties, click on cancel to come out witout changing any settings and creating any problems for yourself!!
Hope this may help you!
