For months now my monitor hasn't been turning on with the computer if it's left off to long. If you turn the computer off and fire it back up within 30 minutes, the monitor comes on as it's starting to go through the bios like it's suppose to. If it's any longer than that, the monitor doesn't come on and I have to turn the computer back off and try again which ends up taking at least 10 trys before it finally comes on and of course there's errors from there because it didn't finish loading on it's previous attempt. I hooked up my monitor to another computer and it fired up fine so I know now it's not my monitor. Any suggestions on what could be causing this? I've looked around everywhere and I can't find anything on reasons as to what's causing this and how to fix it. My computer runs non stop now because it's such a pain in the butt to get the monitor turned on. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

If you hooked up your monitor to another computer at it worked fine, then you could very easily have a faulty VGA adapter card. Make sure that your adapter card/accessories are attached securely. If so, you may need to replace the VGA card with a known good one to see if if works properly. If this cures the situation, then the problem is obvious. If you still have the same problem, it may be your power supply. If you exchange the power supply and you still have the same problem, then it is your motherboard.
Basically, based on the information that you gave, your problem resides in the VGA adapter card/cables, power supply, or the motherboard. I am almost willing to bet that it is the VGA card or the power supply, though. Try these steps in the order in which I gave them to you, and let me know what happens.
Good Luck to you....................

I must correct myself on one particular item. The power supply would have nothing to do with your video problem, because the power for the monitor comes from the wall outlet. My apologies. Hope this helps. Let me know

1st, it could be the power supply, since if the monitor comes on with the computer it has to be plugged into the power outlet on the power supply. Except in the case of Power management sleep mode, which would mean the computer was already turned on...moot point...

2nd, if the monitor works fine on a different computer, I would suspect the video card.

If you had everything...Where would you put it?
