I have an AMD 1GHZ on an Asus A7V motherboard with 512 mb of pc-133 memory and a Maxtor 80g ATA 100 drive running Winme. I cannot get the ATI Radeon 64 DDR card to run with this setup - any suggestions?

I have always had problems getting any ATI card to work right with an AMD processor. My recommendation is, if you can, return the ATI card and go with something like the new Creative Annihilator 2Ultra with 64mb DDR. Its a steep 500 bucks, but its a very powerful card. I like ati cards two, but i also like amd processors...so its hard for me to decide one or the other.

The ATI card will work with a AMD processor. ( I have a AMD Athlon 650 with a Radeon 32mb video card running WindowsME) But there are problems with Radeon cards and VIA chips sets. I don't know what chip set the ASUS has ( and I'm too laze to look it up) but if it's a VIA KX I would check Via's website for the newest 4 in 1 drivers. ( if you do end up getting the Via driver make sure to install "turbo" AGP. The turbo setting gives you AGP4x , the normal setting gives you AGP1x) Also get the latest Radeon drivers and ,if you have upgraded your video card, you'll need to install the Standard VGA driver before installing the Radeon's drivers.
