default media player and download

Hey, this is probably an idiotic question, but it's been really annoying me. I downloaded Download acclerator and then the latest Realplayer version a while ago. I got rid of my download accelerator but now it seems I can;t get rid of Real Player I unistalled it, but now everytime I want to download video I get this window and after it downloads it says it can't play it because it can't find Real Player. I really dislike Real Player and just want my regular Windows Media to be my default. I can't seem to find out how to do it. I've checked the Help topics and gone to settings and etc. It is really annoying and I'm beginning to personalize my dislike for Real Player, it's rather frightening. Can someone help PLEASE. Thank you, a humble idiot

Someone mentioned this in a recent posting, and I rmember this much:
open Windows Media Player and select Tools/Options/Formats slect all and hit apply. This re-associates files to the media player and I believe it also makes the media player the default device. After uninstalling the Real Player I would remove the "Real" folder from the C:\Program Files folder. There will be some registry entries still, but not a problem. (I just did this mess myself).
