Hello, I took the battery off a M571 PCCHIP'S Motherboard which has AMI Software installed on it. I did this in order to reset the Bios so I could bypass a Bios Password. I've placed the battery back on the motherboard. Now I need to know how to reset the Bios so that I can get this PC to boot up. I tried to adjust the Bios Setting's and got a Primary Master and Primary Slave HDD Error Message on the AMI Bios Screen. After that I received a Run Setup Press F1 to Resume Message. Once I selected F1 I got the following three consecutive error messages: Searching for Boot Record from Floppy.. Not Found, Searching for Boot Record from SCSI.. Not Found, and a Searching for Boot Record from CDROM.. Not Found. These error messages are followed by a Boot Failure Message which tells me to Insert Boot Diskette in A:, Press any key when Ready_(Blinking Cursor) and nonthing else happens when I insert a Windows 98 Start UP Disk. I e-mailed tech support at PCCHIPS on yesterday, but I've yet to get a response from them. I'm in the process of checking out a PCCHIPS Lottery Site I found out about in a previous e-mail. However, I'm wondering what I can try to do in the meantime to resolve this issue?

Make sure you have your HDD's connected properly, nothing loose connection. Go to BIOS setup, usually you have to press "del" key right after you start the pc. Go to standard settings for HDD and set to "autodetect" for both IDE channels where devices are connected. Then go to advanced section and enable floppy drive seek. See what happens.

Also follow this if you want to reset all the settings and then reboot. http://www.pcguide.com/ref/mbsys/bios/set/index.htm

You might check The PC Chips Lottery (http://www.stud.fernuni-hagen.de/q3998142/pcchips/) and see if you can find a link there to some info about the board.

Maybe that's the same site you referred to in your post, but I thought I'd post it in case...

Also, make sure your boot floppy is write protected, and you might need to make another one on a friend's machine, if it's not write protected machines with problems can try to write to them when they are powered up or shut down, especially if a virus is present. Not saying a virus is suspected here, just an observation...

If you get into BIOS, also make sure Swap Floppy Drive and Floppy 3 Mode Support are disabled.
