Hi there,
I ahve tried so many forums and sites but have still not found a solution, I must admit though it has been interesting, and have picked up some good tips but still no solution, someone out there must have had a similar problem, so the problem, I have an asus a7v mb and a duron 700, a ati expert 2000 card and a modem, I hear sound from my speakers but it is very faint as if I need to turn the volume up but it is set at max, I ahve all the latest drivers for sound card and mb etc. No conflicts, have tried bigger and more powerfull speakers there the same, it is not the card it works fine in another computer not on an asus board I may add, ahve spoke to creative, and looked on the asus faq but no info on this problem.
Any help, bios is set up correctly, it is on its own irq, not sharing, disabled com2 to free up an irq.
cheers
john

Double click the speaker icon in the task bar and check the main volume level.
Only other thing I can think of is try another sound card.

You say you have tried the Sound Card in another Computer. Have you tried another Sound Card in this Computer? It's just a thought... but maybe for some reason this card that you are using in this particular computer is having trouble's responding the way it should...It's just a trail of elimination.

Have you tried using your speakers on another computer or tried this sound card with headphones?

Just a thought, do you have the cd cable hooked up to the sound card? If so try it without the cable.

Can you please tell me the name of the sound card you replaced your creative card with - I have a problem with playing wave files with same mother board and an ATI all in wonder 128 pro graphics card and a Soundblaster Live Value. I'm happy to get a new sound card but am not sure of compatability with another brand or type

HI there,
I know you have probbley tried this but with you having the live card, have you tried the asus netq site and looked under creartive under sound cards, there are lots of posts on the live card and problems with asus m/b may be your problem is listed there there are lots of fixes to problems, as I had a 128 card it didnt help, but my problem is shown on there.
Will look up the card for you later.
Hope that helps

You may have the mute turned on. Click the speaker icon and the volume control lever should appear. Make sure the mute box isnt checked. When you double click the speaker icon the main equalizer should appear. Check for any check marks in the mute box. I have Windows 98 and the speaker icon is located on the right hand lower corner in the task bar.
