I have a PC that someone gave me that seems to work perfect except for that with any monitor, the display is really wierd. There's only primary colors and a line of visible pixels about every fourth horizontal row. I'm not sure if its the video card or the graphics card or what. Anyone??

Hello,

The first thing you should do is to boot into safe mode (pressing F8 when the unit starts up). Then go to the the device manager and remove all display adaptors, maybe the incorrect one is loaded. Reboot and windows will re-detect the video card and load the proper drivers. It is also possible a generic driver might be loaded (stuck on 16 colours and 640 x 480 resolution) and even at this point it should look OK. Then what you'll have to do is find out the type and model it is
and d/l the drivers from the manufacturer's website.

Ron
