View Full Version : Cannot read small fonts

Hi all. I am having a minor problem with my monitor display. On the first page of this discussion forum, I cannot see the light bulbs that inform you if anyone has posted anything since my last visit. Also, I can hardly read the small print under the categories; this seems to be the case with all fonts that small. Any ideas on how I can fix this?
thanks, crussty http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/tongue.gif
The light bulbs don't show up if cookies are disabled in the browser or if you are using a program that blocks cookies.
Regarding small fonts, I bought a 17" monitor and a good video card, otherwise I would have to use reading glasses http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
Friends don't let friends install Windows ME
If your resolution is set to higher than 800 x 600 on any thing smaller than 17" (I think 19") then you would be seeing some very tiny letters indeed. If you are using a wheel mouse you can try holding down <ctrl> and scrolling....it should change the font size....

Go into your display properties, (right click the desktop,) and click the Appearance tab. About halfway down on the left is a drop down box with everything on the desktop listed. Try each option and some will activate the Font box below that one. Change the fonts to a larger size. I change my fonts entirely and use Bold as well, I'm using Verdana Bold for everything right now, works pretty well.
Once you change the font sizes you may also have to increase the vertical Icon spacing so the icons on the desktop don't overlap. Both vertical and horizontal are in the list. If you have tons of icons on your desktop, which I don't recommend, by the way, you might need to increase the horizontal spacing too if they overlap on the sides.

Note: Please post your questions on the forums, not in my email.
