My sister's computer seems to boot up, but when the monitor comes up, it is a complete blue screen with the word OverRide right in the center. What is wrong with her monitor? I believe it would be that if her tower seems to power up.
If possible, boot from a bootdisk and then run a virus sacn. If you can get a bootable antivirus scan disk use that to boot from. Also post back with any other symptoms and more info about the computer.

Does Bill Gates use WindowsME?
It sounds like a paused game.

Her system is a Proteva, running on Win 98. One of those computers she bought off the TV. I've pulled the tower and monitor out, re-connected all the cables. I've tried re-booting ths system hard by using the power button, but when the screen comes up, it's just the blue screen. I've then hit Ctrl+Alt+Del, but nothing changes on the screen, stays the same, doesn't even go to black. When you say to boot with a scan disk, is this something that I could download for her from a site or do I have to purchase it from a store? Should we just get a new montior, and hook it up to see if it comes up? I know she doesn't have anything backed up, nor does she have any scan disk/virus disks.
Most computers these days come with a least some kind of anti-virus software. Since her computer won't boot then if thereis anything on her system it can't be accessed. Also most anti-virus software has on option to make an emergency scan disk, it has the scan software on it and can scan the computer for a virus if you can't get into Windows. A boot disk can be made in Windows, it has the files on it that are needed to start Windows if you can't get in, it won't go directly to Windows but to the C:>, (DOS level of access, from there you can usually get into Windows by typing win at C:> ). If you/she don't have any antivirus software then you have sveral options, if you can boot with a boot disk and get online then go to one of the scan sites like this one from TrendMicro (http://housecall.antivirus.com/). Or you can buy an antivirus program like McAfee or Norton's programs, or you can download one like InoculateIT Personal Edition (http://antivirus.cai.com/) (free doenload but requires registration).
A Windows bootdisk can be made in Windows under the Control Panel Add/Remove Programs applet. Once there you will see the last tab says Startup Disk, just click on that tab and follow the onscreen instructuions for making the start disk. (requires a blank formatted floppy disk)
You can also try a different monitor, but I think that it may be a virus because I don't know of any Window's errors that have a blank screen with just a single word in the center of the screen. Also haven't seen a monitor that has that kind of fault detection and the ability to lock you out of Windows.
Until this is staightened out don't use any floppies run on this machine recently on other computers.
